Is it true that if your boyfriend doesn't treat his mom well, he won't treat you well?

Question: I was thinking about how if your boyfriend doesn't treat his mother well he won't treat you well. So then I started to think about how my boyfriend treats his mom, and the few times I've seen them together he never listens to her, and he never talks nicely about him mom either. I don't know what to do.

First, I want you to know that you are absolutely right! You can tell A LOT about a guy by how he treats not only his mom, but ALL of the women in his life. If he treats the women who care about him with disrespect, it is very likely he will eventually treat you that way also. It’s very wise of you to recognize this.

Second, we have found that many young women make a lot of excuses for their boyfriends because they’ve been told that the guy will “grow out of it.” Don’t fall for it! There ARE young men who are kind, humble, respectful, and love Jesus. God does not want His daughters to settle for anything else!

Praying for you…it’s very hard to recognize these things in a relationship because it often means thinking about ending the relationship. I’ll be praying for you as you navigate this!
