You're Not Alone
According to new data from the National Center for Health Statistics, the suicide rate in the U.S. hit a 40 year high among older teen girls in 2015. In the shorter term, the suicide rate for girls doubled between 2007 and 2015. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published new information in August indicating that there has been a 31 percent increase in suicide rates among young males, and the rate doubled for young females. This is the reality of the world you're living in.
If you have ever thought about taking your own life, you are not alone. And there is hope.
When it feels like the rest of the world is unreachable, help is out there. It may be in the nurturing qualities of a close friend, the protection of a trusted adult, a helpline number, or even the calming nature of your favorite hobbies. When the rest of the world feels like too much to handle, there is always someone or something that can help you take control of your thoughts, your actions, and your mental health. What you need to remember in times like these, is that you are never alone.
We know that the hardest thing to do, sometimes, is to admit you’re feeling a certain way. Whether you can’t get over that test you failed, you had a fight with a friend that you just don’t want anyone to know about, or your life at home isn’t just what you pictured, the hardest problems are never solved alone. And, while it may feel that you are the only person in the world going through this, there are other people who can relate to what you are experiencing and are out there to help guide you through your struggles. While it certainly may feel like you are alone sometimes, help exists for you, around every corner, as long as you are looking for and open to it.
You may have questions about why you feel the way that you do. You may still be thinking about something; something that bothers you, a mistake that you have made, a problem that seems like it will never be solved. Remember to be kind and patient with yourself. You are only human. You are not alone.
The first step to healing is to open yourself to the possibility of help.

It means the damage no longer controls your life…”
