How Can I Find a Good Accountability Partner?

How Can I Find a Good Accountability Partner?

Message: I love these posts on relationships and healthy living. I’ve tried for years to make healthy habits stick with no luck. I’ve had accountability partners, but they never checked on me or kept me accountable. Just wondering if that is something you guys do? I would love to have a real accountability partner.

Response: Thank you for reaching out with your question! I am so glad you are enjoying reading the posts! I also want to commend you on your continued efforts to build and grow healthy habits. It’s a hard road, and having an accountability partner who is genuinely invested in you and cares about your success can make all the difference.

Unfortunately, we don’t have accountability partners here at Gorgeous2God that we can connect you with. You’re welcome to write in here as much as you would like, but I know it’s not exactly the same. I would encourage you to ask your friends, family, or even a teacher or church member to see if they would be willing to be an active accountability partner for you. Keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be someone you know well. Sometimes doing something like this can become a great first step to building a friendship!

If you have a smartphone, there are apps available that can help you stay accountable as well. Let’s say that one of your healthy habits is to drink more water, there is an app on the Apple and Android store called Plant Nanny2 that reminds you to drink more water throughout the day. The way it works is that you will get a little reminder that your plant (which is really you) needs more water in order to stay alive. If you don’t water your plant, it will die and that’s no good! This app will help you stay accountable for your water intake especially with an incentive to keep your little plant happy and healthy. It’s a cute and fun way to stay hydrated and keep your body healthy. It wouldn’t hurt to check into this and see if there are apps that could help you with other healthy habits as well. Maybe there’s even something that offers that personal connection with another accountability buddy who’s working towards the same goal. It’s not the same as a physical person you know, but might be a good second option if you aren’t able to find anyone right away.

I’m sending loads of prayers up on your behalf! I’m asking God to send you the right person for your life to help you stay accountable on your journey.
