What Does God Forgive?
Question: Does God forgive all sins? Does He love everyone?
Response: What an excellent question to ask! The God we serve is an amazing God and He has such a big heart for each and every one of us. God does truly love all of us and He sent His son, Jesus to die for all of our sins. (John 3:16-17). Jesus loves all of us so much that He even knows how many hairs there are on our heads. That’s a lot of hair to count! But He truly loves all of His creations and says so in Matthew 6:26 “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
God’s love is so abundant that we cannot even measure it. In Psalm 103:8 “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” His love also extends to us when we sin because as humans, we are sinful by nature. Romans 5:8 tells us that “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” So not only does He love us as sinners but He forgives all sins too! Wow, what an amazing God we serve! In 1 John 1:9 it says that “if we confess our sins our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
God is full of love and mercy. If we come to Him and ask Him for forgiveness, then He will forgive us no matter what. By coming to Him, humbling ourselves, and asking Him simply in prayer like this: “God, I have done some bad things. I have sinned and I don’t feel good about what I have done. Please Lord, forgive me and accept me into your loving arms. Amen.” We will be forgiven.
Praying for you as you learn more about God’s fantastic love.
